According to a report from The Sun, Leeds are interested in pursuing a loan move for Manchester United striker James Wilson during the January transfer window, but could face competition from Reading.

Three defeats on the spin have left the Whites on the periphery of the play-off picture, and needing a sharp turnaround in their fortunes if they want to keep pace with the likes of Wolves and Cardiff over the coming months.
To ensure that their positive start to the campaign does not go to waste, it appears that the Leeds hierarchy are looking at potential January targets, and The Sun reports that one of those targets is United youngster Wilson.
The 21-year-old has not made a senior appearance in over a year due to a knee injury suffered in training during his loan spell with Derby County – as it turned out, his final appearance for the Rams came against Leeds – but he is now back playing for Manchester United’s under-23 side.
The Sun reports that Wilson – who also enjoyed a loan spell with Brighton during the 2015/16 campaign – attracted plenty of attention during the summer, but the Red Devils decided to hold onto the forward as he continued to recover from the long-term injury.
However, Leeds and Championship rivals Reading are now considering making a loan approach in January, so it will be interesting to see whether United decide that leaving temporarily will be in his best interests by the time the next window comes about.
Certainly, if Leeds manage to put their recent form behind them, or Reading build on their win at Elland Road at the weekend, then perhaps United may be keen on the idea of letting Wilson test himself in a potential promotion race.
