Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Tyler Roberts from West Bromwich Albion.

Roberts is out of contract at The Hawthorns at the end of the season, and the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that there are a host of clubs chasing his signature ahead of the summer.

However, it appears that Leeds are getting close to winning the race to sign Roberts from the Baggies on a permanent basis after Alan Pardew brought in Daniel Sturridge on loan. The Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that talks have been held between the two clubs and the Whites are hoping to put the 19-year-old through a medical.

The Yorkshire Evening Post adds that Leeds could pay an initial fee of £2.5 million – though Matt Wilson of the Express and Star has suggested on Twitter that the Championship side could ultimately pay £4 million for the teenager.
The news may well provide a major boost for the Whites fans who are keen to see more attacking players arrive at Elland Road before tomorrow’s deadline after a fairly quiet window in terms of first-team signings.
Roberts appears to have a huge amount of potential, so it would arguably be a fantastic statement of intent from Leeds if they did manage to lure him away when there are seemingly so many clubs keeping an eye on his situation.
