According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United’s move for Jonathan David has more guaranteed payments to Gent than Lille’s offer does.
It’s claimed that the Whites have entered the race to sign David, with Victor Orta looking to strike a major coup.
Lille had been leading the race to sign David, but it’s now thought that Leeds may have put an even better offer on the table.
Lille offered £23million plus add-ons for David, but Leeds are going in with a £27million offer, with more guaranteed payments to the Belgian side.
That may well tempt Gent into accepting Leeds’ offer over Lille’s, and fans would be hugely excited by such a deal.
The Canadian talent, 20, smashed 23 goals and 10 assists last season, playing predominantly as a number 10.

David can also play up front, possessing similar versatility to Tyler Roberts but with even greater quality and potential.
Signing David for £27million would shatter the Leeds transfer record, and see the Whites beat a host of huge clubs to his signature; having bettered Lille’s offer, they’ve made a great start.
