Leeds United have reportedly been impressed by the work former U-23 coach Carlos Corberan has done with Huddersfield Town, with the Spaniard a contender to replace Marcelo Bielsa.
According to the Athletic, the 38-year-old European coach has caught the eye at Leeds as a potential replacement for their Argentine manager in the coming months, with Bielsa looking likely to leave Elland Road at the end of his current deal.
As per the Telegraph, Corberan is one of three managers Leeds are eyeing with the momentous task of taking over from Bielsa, with Jesse Marsch and former FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde also on the shortlist.
Corberan worked under Bielsa at Elland Road and did impressive work for the club’s U-23 side as head coach, and since taking the step into senior management, the Spaniard has continued to increase his reputation.
Huddersfield currently stand an impressive fifth in the Championship as Corberan’s side stand the closest they have been since returning to the second-tier of being promoted back up to the Premier League, and this has caught Leeds’ attention.
Whilst Corberan is the only one of the three managers on the shortlist to be under contract at a club in Huddersfield, the EFL coach could be the best man to take the job despite the difficulties Leeds might struggle in prying him from the Terriers.
Experience with Leeds makes Corberan ideal to replace Bielsa

Whilst Marsch and Valverde have the experience and reputation to replace Bielsa, Corberan could stand as the perfect option to replace the Leeds coach, with the young manager already having experience of how Leeds is run under the Argentine.
Indeed, Corberan would be a gamble given his relative inexperience, but with the 38-year-old already familiar with how Leeds operate under Bielsa and the fans wanting a manager who can replicate the best football the South American played, the Huddersfield boss could be perfect to take the reins in the not-so-near future.
