Pontus Jansson had looked set to miss Leeds United’s next two games after sustaining a knee injury.

A report from the Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested that Leeds are hopeful that Pontus Jansson’s recovery could be shorter than three weeks after the defender sustained a knee injury at the weekend.
Jansson gave the Elland Road faithful a major scare on Saturday as he fell awkwardly on his knee during the second-half of the Whites’ defeat to Sheffield United. He remained on the pitch for the rest of the game, but only because Marcelo Bielsa had already made three substitutions.
The Swede looked to be in discomfort for the rest of the game and was sent up front before going in goal once Kiko Casilla had been sent off.
With Jansson arguably as good as any other player in the Leeds squad in recent weeks, the wait to find out how serious the problem was was always going to be a nervy one for the Whites fans. And on Monday, the club confirmed on their official website that he is set to miss three weeks.

Fortunately, the international break means that the centre-back is in line to miss just two games. But perhaps the news could prove to be even more positive.
The Yorkshire Evening Post is now suggesting that Leeds are hoping that Jansson could return sooner, and the club’s ambitious target would be to try and get him back in time for the trip to Birmingham City – the second of the games he is currently set to miss.

Leeds supporters have become used to seeing their players return much sooner than expected this season. The Whites have certainly got value for money out of their treatment table this season, but several members of the squad have come back ahead of schedule.
If Jansson could get back in time for the trip to St Andrew’s, that would be a huge boost for Bielsa’s men as they look to get themselves back into the top two in the Championship.
