Report: Leeds hope Samuel Saiz will return to training this week

Samuel Saiz missed Leeds United’s most recent Championship clash due to a hamstring injury.

According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds hope that they will have Samuel Saiz back in training during the coming week, but they do not expect to have the Spaniard back playing until after Easter.

Saiz was missing from the Leeds squad that hosted Sheffield Wednesday in the final game before the international break due to a hamstring injury. And Whites fans may have hoped that the break would prove well-timed for their playmaker and that he would be back for Friday’s clash with Bolton Wanderers.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that, although Saiz is expected to be back on the training ground in the coming days, the Easter games against the Trotters and Fulham may come too soon for the attacking midfielder.

The news that Saiz is closing in on a return will be a boost for Heckingbottom who will be looking for a reaction from his team with just one win coming in his tenure so far.

Leeds’ season looks set to finish in mid-table, but they will still be looking to show some progress ahead of the summer with the current head coach’s tenure still in its infancy.

Having Saiz back will provide a major boost to their hopes of ending the campaign on a high.
