A report from the Daily Mail claims that Aston Villa, Leeds United and Manchester United have all spoken to the agents of Marseille star Boubacar Kamara. He is out of contract with the Ligue 1 side this summer.
Kamara, 22, is available on a free transfer – under the Bosman ruling. Non-French sides can arrange a pre-contract deal for Kamara now he has entered the final six months of his deal. But clubs might want him now.
Spanish outlet Marca says £10million is enough to get Kamara this month – a deal Marseille might prefer, as they can bring in some cash for his signature. Now, the Mail claim three English sides have held talks.
They report that Leeds, Villa and United have all spoken to the agents of Kamara – who is seen as one of the most-exciting talents in French football. Rolando, an ex-teammate of Kamara, labelled him a “phenomenon” in 2020.
Kamara talks: Leeds, Villa or Manchester United for French ace?
A move to Elland Road would be a huge boost for Leeds. Having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, it is clear Leeds could do with a fresh face or two. A holding midfielder is up there, as a potential priority.
Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch have spent time on the sidelines with injury this season – meaning another option at centre-back is key. Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw are currently injured.
So, Leeds need a player that can offer cover at both centre-back and midfield. Kamara is ideal. At United, he would struggle to start and at Villa, they are seemingly more keen on Rodrigo Bentancur. Time will tell.
