Leeds United are still searching for their new manager following Garry Monk’s recent surprise departure from Elland Road.
Former Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have currently made no approach for Alan Pardew, who is now the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Garry Monk.
Leeds are still looking for their next manager following Monk’s surprise resignation in the days that followed Andrea Radrizzani completing his full buyout of the Championship club, and Whites fans would be forgiven for thinking that Pardew could be the man likely to take over at Elland Road.
Leeds are still searching for Garry Monk’s replacement
SkyBet now list the former Crystal Palace boss as the 11/10 favourite for the post with a couple of the initial favourites – Aitor Karanka and Pep Clotet – both seemingly drifting out of the running.
But while that momentum shift in the market may leave some Leeds supporters believing that a potential move for Pardew could be imminent, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that sources close to the 55-year-old have insisted that no approach has been made.
Pardew is the bookies’ favourite for the Leeds job
Of course, that could change in the coming weeks. And it would arguably not be a complete surprise if that did change as Pardew boasts a huge amount of Premier League experience, even if an approach for him is met with a mixed response amongst the Elland Road faithful.
His managerial career has certainly had its up and downs, but he has managed in all of the top three divisions over the past decade so he may have a better understanding of what is required in the Championship than many may give him credit for.
