Leeds United are reportedly prioritising a move for a new centre-back this summer, and John Egan is a player that they have looked at.

The Whites go into this window looking to strengthen in a number of areas. The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that a new goalkeeper, centre-back and striker are the priorities, but fans may argue that there are other concerns that need to be sorted before the window shuts.

The Yorkshire Evening Post adds that Kyle Bartley has been a top target but the Whites are yet to make progress in bringing him back to the club, and that has tempted Leeds to consider other options.
Egan would certainly be a shrewd addition to the Leeds squad if they did act on their interest and the Bees ultimately sanctioned a deal. The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the most reliable centre-backs in the second tier over the last couple of years and it would be a surprise if Dean Smith’s men made it at all easy for any interested side to tempt him away.

Transfermarkt shows that Egan is out of contract at Griffin Park in 2020, so Leeds’ Championship rivals will be under very little pressure to sell if they do not wish to.
But, while it appears that Leeds’ interest is fairly tentative at this stage, it may not prove a huge shock if they ultimately look to test Brentford’s resolve to keep Egan if they are unable to get Bartley back and have to switch their focus to other potential options.
