Leeds United had gone as far as agreeing terms for Arsenal’s Rob Holding before Mikel Arteta’s change of heart, TeamTalk claim.
Leeds were looking at bringing Holding in on loan, and had given Arsenal what they wanted for the centre-back.
However, Holding, who was described as a ‘quality’ footballer by Tony Cascarino on TalkSPORT, started in Arsenal’s first game of the season against Fulham – which they won 3-0 – and Arteta’s has now decided to keep him around.
His potential move to Leeds has, therefore, fallen through in what could be a blow to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Leeds are still looking to bring in another centre-back, even though they have signed Robin Koch this summer.

Leeds have been heavily linked with Josko Gvardiol in recent times, with Bielsa keen to add more cover in the heart of his side’s defence.
Leeds conceded four goals on opening day, and will know that they will need to tighten up at the back if they are to survive their first season back in the Premier League.
