Leeds United face more competition for the signing of Huddersfield Town talent Lewis O’Brien, with Wolves now interested in the Championship star.
According to Planet Sport, Bruno Lage’s side are keen on the 23-year-old, who has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Terriers under former Leeds youth coach Carlos Corberan, with Huddersfield sitting 3rd in the Championship.
The Essex-born midfielder has started all but two league games this season, with O’Brien even taking the captain’s armband for occasional matches for Huddersfield, and his performances have caught the eye of Leeds for some time.
The Whites were linked with the youngster last summer, and as per Planet Sport, O’Brien has a release clause valued at £12m, a fee that could prove to be a bargain for Leeds ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
However, interest from the likes of Wolves and Huddersfield’s incredible run in the Championship could threaten Leeds’ pursuit of O’Brien, with former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa seemingly a big fan of the English midfielder.
Indeed, Jesse Marsch’s appointment could scrape any plans Leeds had behind the scenes to sign O’Brien if the American isn’t sold on the Championship star, which again could play into the hands of Wolves ahead of the summer.
Wolves interest could finally end Leeds’ hope of signing O’Brien

A summer move is incredible likely for O’Brien, with his performances in the Championship elevating the midfielder both himself and Huddersfield to a position very few would have predicted back in August, and for Wolves, it could mean beating Leeds to his signature.
After all, Leeds have been linked with the 23-year-old for some time, and with Terriers manager Corberan hailing O’Brien as ‘very special’, Wolves could now pounce ahead of Leeds to sign the midfielder this summer.
