According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are expecting to sign ‘three or four’ young players – and Celtic’s Leo Hjelde is a top target.
The focus will be on signing first-team players for Marcelo Bielsa, with Leeds looking to build on a strong first season back in the Premier League.
Yet with Victor Orta in charge of the club, Leeds have also placed a real focus on signing young players for the future – and that’s about to continue.
Leeds target youngsters
The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt all arrived for Leeds’ developmental side, and could be first-team players in the near future.
That’s the hope for Leeds; that they manage to sign talented young players, develop them in-house and get them ready for first-team action.
Pascal Struijk is the real success story of this strategy, and there could be more to come if Orta gets his way this summer.

Hjelde on Leeds’ radar
The report adds that Leeds want to sign Celtic defender Leo Hjelde, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Bhoys.
The 17-year-old defender has spent time on loan with Ross County, and has been branded ‘the new Virgil van Dijk’ by boss John Hughes.
Hjelde appears to have a huge future ahead of him, and Leeds hope that he will be one of the young players to join them this summer.
