Calum Chambers could be set for a reunion with Victor Orta as Leeds United enter talks with Arsenal over a potential £12 million deal, according to TEAMtalk.

While Middlesbrough didn’t exactly make a lasting impression during their only season back in the big-time, one member of Aitor Karanka’s squad did at least make the most of a Premier League chance at the Riverside.

Chambers really caught the eye during a short-term loan spell in the north east.

And, three years on, it seems that Leeds’s bearded, bespectacled director of football is working on a deal that will see him shake hands again with the three-time England international – at Elland Road this time.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are planning to sell a versatile defender who has started just 25 Premier League games for the Gunners since the start of the 2015/16 campaign.

Fulham would love to re-sign Chambers, given that he won the club’s Player of the Year award during a disastrous season in which the Cottagers finished bottom of the top flight.

Scott Parker’s Fulham are facing a battle with another newly-promoted club, however, with Victor Orta’s Leeds entering negotiations over what could be a £12 million deal.

An adaptable and technically gifted centre-half who shone at Craven Cottage in a deep-lying defensive midfield role, Chambers would have big shoes to fill if he takes Ben White’s place in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI.

But a man who joined Arsenal as a budding 19-year-old from Southampton has never lacked the ability or the attitude to succeed at Premier League level.

“He’s very humble, very quiet and he shows his confidence on the pitch,” says former Arsenal teammate, and current Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny.

“It is a massive quality because he looks very comfortable, whether you play him at right-back or centre-back. He is comfortable on the ball, he is comfortable defending and he is very strong as well. He has been a massive signing.”
