Leeds United are fighting hard to keep Kalvin Phillips.
According to The Sun, Leeds United have demanded a huge £30million for midfielder Kalvin Phillips, leaving Aston Villa ‘frustrated’ in their attempts to sign him.
The Whites missed out on promotion to the Premier League, and that means some of their key players may be sold to help balance the books this summer.
Phillips is a man in demand after a superb season under Marcelo Bielsa, and Aston Villa were looking to lure him away from Villa Park after they secured a return to the top flight.
However, it’s believed that Leeds have demanded £30million for Phillips, demanding Villa to double their offer from £15million, and it looks to have been enough to ward them away.
Villa desperately need at least one new holding midfielder this summer, having released veteran duo Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak this summer.
Phillips fit the bill perfectly, but Villa surely won’t be paying £30million for one player this summer, given how many areas of Dean Smith’s side need some attention.
It now seems that Leeds have got their wish in forcing Villa to look elsewhere, as Het Laatste Nieuws in Belgium report that Villa are ramping up their interest in Club Brugge anchor man Marvelous Nakamba having been batted away by Leeds.
That deal seems more realistic, especially given that Villa have already negotiated one deal with the Belgian side this summer by signing striker Wesley, and Leeds may be able to rest easy now.
