The Leeds United centre-back was taken off during the club’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has been ruled out of Sweden’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
The Whites star was stretchered off the field during Leeds’ match against Sheffield Wednesday, after a collision with teammate Kalvin Phillips, and it has since been confirmed that Jansson has suffered an arm injury and will remain in Yorkshire for further tests.

It is another blow for a Leeds side that has already had its fair share of injuries this season, and comes just days after loanee Matthew Pennington returned from a setback of his own.
At least Leeds have sufficient cover, with Conor Shaughnessy impressing in the early weeks of the campaign, although Jansson and Liam Cooper are the club’s standout defenders and their manager Thomas Christiansen will be hoping he can select the pair together more often than not.

Leeds’ brilliant start to the new season has fizzled out in alarming fashion, with the club losing to Millwal, Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday in recent weeks.
Next up for Leeds, after the international break, is a home match against Reading and if they play to their full potential Christiansen’s men should have too much for the Royals, with or without Jansson.
