According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United may listen to loan offers for Sam Greenwood.
Greenwood has been excellent for the U23s this season, and it seems as though the Whites are keen for him to get a taste of senior football and spread his wings elsewhere.
It’s somewhat surprising to hear that Greenwood may be loaned out. After all, Angus Kinnear recently stated that he’s one of the young players who are starting to push for a place on the first-team.
“I think Gelhardt, Greenwood, Drameh and Summerville have all got huge potential and starting to push for a first-team place, so there will be some recruitment at that level as well,” Kinnear said.
Marcelo Bielsa often doesn’t loan out U23 players that he believes can play a part for Leeds next term, but it seems as though Leeds’ stance on this could be changing.
The striker looks to be the real deal. He was nominated for the PL2 Player of the Year award, and was the top scorer for Mark Jackson’s side this term.
Whether or not he does end up going out on loan remains to be seen, but it’s interesting to hear that the Whites are willing to listen to offers.
Greenwood would perhaps be best suited to a temporary move to the Championship after such a fantastic season for Leeds’ U23s.
Leeds certainly need to handle Greenwood’s development correctly as he could blossom into one of the Whites’ most important players in the coming years.
