Leeds United could reportedly have both Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips back in time from injury to face Aston Villa in what could be a significant Premier League fixture in March.

According to the Athletic, the English duo are likely to return to full fitness for Leeds’ home match against Steven Gerrard’s side on March 10th, a fixture which is already starting to look like a must-win game for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds are without a win since mid-January and were last night obliterated by Liverpool 6-0 at Anfield. And with Tottenham coming up next for the Whites, their barren run in the league could continue as pressure on the club from supporters continues.

Both Bamford and Phillips have missed large portions of the season due to injury. However, the duo, both hailed as ‘exceptional’ by Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho respectively, could be fit to face Villa in a few weeks.

Bamford has started just five league games this season due to both a hamstring and ankle injury, whilst Phillips has been missing since early December, with Leeds winning just twice since the midfielder’s absence.

Indeed, the next two games will be difficult as Leeds welcome Tottenham to Elland Road followed by an away trip to Leicester City. However, the pending returns of Bamford and Phillips could be game-changing for the Villa match.

Leeds have been decimated by injuries this season, yet the returns of Bamford and Phillips in just over two weeks could be something that turns the club’s fortunes around in a major way.

After all, the England pair were incredible for Leeds last season in their homecoming year in the Premier League. And after returning from injury, both Bamford and Phillips could be the saviours for Bielsa’s side as they slowly slip into a relegation battle.
