Lyanco’s mooted move to Leeds United looks increasingly unlikely, with Torino Granata reporting that Bologna are now leading the race for the £9 million-rated Serie A defender.

Just over a week ago, one of the most passionate and obsessive fan bases in English football were getting a little twitchy.

At the time, Leeds were yet to bring in a single new face with their first Premier League fixture in 14 years (away to champions Liverpool no less) hurtling into view.

How things have changed.

Flash forward to the present and Leeds are expected to follow up the £25 million club-record signing of Rodrigo Moreno with a move for Argentina winger Rodrigo de Paul.

A German has already joined the Spaniard at Elland Road, with Robin Koch putting pen to paper and becoming Ben White’s replacement.

Victor Orta, Marcelo Bielsa and ambitious owner Andrea Radrizzani are not finished there, though, with Leeds seemingly intent on adding some extra defensive depth to their Championship-winning squad.

Teenager Josko Gvardiol and Swansea City’s Ben Cabango have been linked in the last few days.

But the trail leading Lyanco to West Yorkshire appears to have grown a little cold, with the Croatian and the Welshman now ahead of him in the pecking order.

Torino Granata suggests that the £9 million-rated Brazilian is no longer a Leeds priority. A move to Sporting Lisbon has also fallen apart and, as it stands, Lyanco is expected join Bologna permanently after an impressive loan spell under Sinisa Mihajlovic last season.

“Lyanco is a great prospect” the Bologna boss told Gianluca di Marzio recently.
