Birmingham City and Leeds United continue to scrap over Bristol City defender Aden Flint.

According to The Mirror, Leeds United have contacted Bristol City about a deal for centre back Aden Flint – and are willing to offer him a big pay rise to join the club.

The Whites have been active in the transfer market this summer, bringing in Felix Wiedwald, Vurnon Anita, Matthew Pennington, Madger Gomes, Mateusz Klich, Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban, whilst Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko penned permanent deals after successful loan spells.

However, fans are still keen to see Leeds bring in another central defender, given that Kyle Bartley returned to Swansea City at the end of his loan spell last season, though Thomas Christiansen does have Jansson, Pennington and Liam Cooper at his disposal.

Now, The Mirror report that Leeds have made contact with Championship rivals Bristol City over a deal to sign centre back Aden Flint – though they have strong competition from Birmingham City too.

It’s even stated that both clubs are willing to offer Flint a major pay rise to leave Ashton Gate, which already looks inevitable ahead of next month’s transfer window.

Flint, 28, has been a key player for the Robins since joining from Swindon Town in the summer of 2013, and he has now racked up 200 appearances for the club.

The giant centre back, who stands at 6ft 5in tall, possesses great aerial ability and could form a strong partnership with Jansson in the heart of the Leeds defence.

Bristol City now look set to cash in on Flint having signed Nathan Baker from Aston Villa on Friday, with Lee Johnson already having the likes of Bailey Wright, Hordur Magnusson and Jens Hegeler at his disposal – and it may now be a straight fight between Birmingham and Leeds for his signature.
