Andoni Iraola has reportedly rejected the move, Carlos Corberan has signed a new contract at West Brom, and Arne Slot has denied any contact with Leeds.
The club is now reportedly considering an interim manager to see them through until the end of the campaign, with a full-time appointment planned for the summer.
This approach could be seen as a clever solution, giving the club time to thoroughly evaluate their options before making a long-term appointment.
However, given that Leeds are currently facing a relegation battle, this is risk.
Indeed, there are some notable associated with this approach.
Interim managers can often struggle to make an impact, and their short-term status can make it difficult for them to fully implement their ideas and win over the squad.
This was seen just last season in the Premier League with Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United who failed to really get a foothold at Old Trafford, while Mike Jackson, Burnley’s interim manager last term, took the Clarets down.
Another factor to consider is the possibility of Leeds’ ownership changing hands in the summer. The San Francisco 49ers have an option to buy the club, which could lead to a change in direction, and having a clean slate heading into the summer would suit the 49ers as they look to implement their own vision.
Whether or not Leeds do follow through with this plan remains to be seen, but it will be a risky approach if they do.
