According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are considering a late loan move for Orlando City forward Daryl Dike, although they face competition from West Brom.

What’s the story?

Well, after suffering a 5-1 defeat to Manchester United before the 2-2 draw with Everton, those at Leeds are now considering reinforcements.

TEAMtalk claim that sources close to Leeds have suggested a loan deal could be possible for Dike, who spent time on loan at Barnsley last term.

The 21-year-old shone in England, scoring nine goals in 19 Championship appearances under Valérien Ismaël.

Now Ismaël is at West Brom, and TEAMtalk believe the Baggies are leading the race to sign the 8-cap USA international as a result.

TEAMtalk add that Leeds’ American co-owners 49ers Enterprises would love to see Dike arrive.

However, Ismaël has already held talks about a swoop for the striker.

What would Leeds and West Brom get in Daryl Dike?

In Dike, Marcelo Bielsa would be getting a seriously strong presence up front, one who is said to have a cannon of a shot on him.

Jordan Williams, who played with the American at Barnsley, even compared the Oklahoma-born striker to Chelsea hitman Romelu Lukaku.

The BBC quote him as saying: “Daryl has got a rocket of a right foot. I think he’s similar to Lukaku. He hasn’t scored as many goals yet, but he can hit a ball just as hard.”

At 21, Dike has shown plenty of promise – it was particularly impressive to see him take to the Championship so well, a division known to be very tough.

As the likes of Patrick Bamford, Eberechi Eze and Michail Antonio have proved, the Championship is a breeding ground for Premier League talent.

Now Dike has already conquered that stage, it would be great to see him move up a level and test his abilities in England’s top-flight.
