Leeds United have reportedly added Jordan Stevens to their development squad.

According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have completed a deal to sign Jordan Stevens from Forest Green Rovers in the final hours before the transfer window shuts.

Stevens was enjoying his breakthrough season with the League Two side, making nine appearances in the league, including two starts for the team currently sat just inside the relegation zone in the fourth tier.

However, he has now secured a fresh challenge, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, with Leeds seeing off competition from some Premier League sides to bring the 17-year-old to Elland Road.

The Yorkshire Evening Post adds that Stevens will become the latest signing to go into the Whites’ under-23 squad, and is set to become Leeds’ second acquisition on transfer deadline day, with Tyler Roberts signing from West Bromwich Albion earlier on.

While it has frustrated many fans how Leeds have put so much focus on building their under-23 ranks this month when their promotion bid is in such a precarious state, signing Stevens looks as if it could be a tremendous coup for the Championship side, especially with the player receiving attention from the top flight before his move.

Stevens now needs to prove that the interest from the Premier League and the Whites’ faith in him was justified by pushing to become the latest youngster at Thorp Arch to push for a first-team spot.
