According to The Mirror, Leeds United are cooling their interest in signing Brest left back Romain Perraud.

Leeds need to find a new left back this summer with Ezgjan Alioski currently set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.

A number of players have been linked, from Perraud to Lyon ace Maxwel Cornet – but the latter is considered too expensive at £20million.

Perraud unlikely to join Leeds

It’s claimed that Leeds are backing away from Perraud having first been linked with him by Le10 Sport back in January.

Perraud called himself ‘hyperactive’ with regards to his relentless style, and that appeared to be a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa.

The Frenchman, 22, racked up three goals and seven assists last season but Leeds will seemingly look elsewhere.

Southampton surely favourites now

L’Equipe reported earlier this month that Southampton were most likely to sign Perraud ahead of Leeds and Newcastle.

Southampton have links with Brest having signed Ibrahima Diallo from them last summer, and an £8.6million deal was suggested.

Perraud could now replace Ryan Bertrand at Southampton, and maybe Leeds have cooled their interest because they know Perraud is likely to join the Saints.
