According to SportItalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Leeds United are ‘cold’ on Juventus winger Douglas Costa having seemingly been offered the chance to sign him.
It’s claimed that Costa is not untouchable anymore at Juve, and agents Giovanni Branchini and Jorge Mendes are looking to find him a new club.
Attempts have been made with English clubs, but Leeds are though to be looking elsewhere and Manchester United are focusing on other players.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are a prime suitor given Mendes’ links there, but Costa isn’t keen on a move to Molineux as things stand.
Juve paid €46million (£42million) to sign Costa in 2018, but they’re now open to offloading him just two years later.
Costa has made 103 appearances for Juve including during his 2017-18 loan spell, but he has managed just 10 goals and 21 assists for the Italian side.
Injuries have been a big concern for the Brazilian, so much so that he recently told Goal that he considered retirement due to persistent hamstring and calf problems, but keeps going due to his love of football.
Costa is now 30, and struggling to find his top form again. Leeds haven’t really done down that route in the transfer market this summer, instead going for talented young players like Robin Koch and Michael Cuisance or proven players like Diego Llorente and Rodrigo Moreno, whereas, Costa may be past his best now, so it’s no surprise if Leeds have said no.
