Leeds United are hoping to fight off competition from the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Norwich for the signature of highly-rated striker Ole Romeny this summer, according to Voetbal International.
This NEC Nijmegen starlet may be just getting going in the professional game but it’s fair to say he is not short of self-belief or personal ambition.
Despite scoring nine times in all competitions for the Eerste Divisie outfit in 2019/20, Romeny is determined to take his game to greater heights as soon as possible.
“As a striker you are judged on goals, you have to do everything to score. I still don’t have that drive. I have to become a killer in the box,” the former Holland U18 international told De Gelderlander recently.
“I am not a classic striker. I like to roam the field, have a free role. I like to dribble.”
There are two comments here that will intrigue Leeds United supporters.
With Romeny more than happy to drop short, link the play and drift wide, he already looks like the sort of all-action forward who Marcelo Bielsa admirers.

And if he does hone his movement and his finishing skills inside the penalty area, maybe he could be the ‘killer’ that an often goal-shy Leeds side are crying out for.
Reports this week suggest that the Championship promotion-chasers have a mountain to climb if they want to win the race for Romeny’s signature, however.
Norwich, Juventus and league rivals Brentford are keen too, as are Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
But if Romeny finds that the chance to work under Guardiola is impossible to turn down, that could still be good news for Leeds. After all, Pep is a commit disciple of the messianic Bielsa and he has a history when it comes to sending young players on loan to Elland Road.
