Leeds United are approaching an agreement with FC Utrecht for the transfer of Gryrano Kerk, according to De Telegraaf.
It is claimed that Utrecht want €10 million (around £9.1m) for Kerk, who plays as a winger.
That is €3m (£2.7m) more than one of Leeds’ rival suitors, Cagliari, are said to be willing to spend.
And, while there is no specific figure given by De Telegraaf as to how much Leeds are likely to pay, the Dutch paper adds that the Whites appear to have trumped both Cagliari and Hellas Verona in the pursuit of Kerk, who has ‘indicated that he is open to a nice foreign adventure’.
At 24, Kerk would be expected to enter Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team plans straight away.
The Dutchman scored or assisted 17 goals in 24 Eredivisie games for Utrecht last season, helping his current employers to sixth.
Leeds have already added the Feyenoord winger Crysencio Summerville to their Under-23 squad this summer and have been linked with a move for another Netherlands-based player in the midfielder Teun Koopmeiners by The Telegraph .
