Football website 90Min claim that Leeds United, Leicester City, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are keeping tabs on the situation regarding Watford striker Joao Pedro – as talks over a move to Newcastle United continue this week.
Pedro, 20, has emerged as one of the late stories of the transfer window. Clubs are desperate to bring in a striker and Pedro is being widely targeted. That is, after 14 goals in 78 Watford appearances despite being incredibly young.
Able to play as a striker or out wide, Pedro has shown glimpses of magic since his move from Fluminense. Reports claim that Newcastle are on the verge of completing a deal to sign the Championship club’s Brazilian attacker.
Watford value Pedro at £35million, while Newcastle have made an offer of £30million – including add-ons. That is according to 90Min, who also state that Leeds, Forest, Leicester and Wolves are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Which club would be Pedro’s best move? Newcastle need a striker that can compete with Callum Wilson and Chris Wood. Both have their injury issues. Newcastle require a forward happy to be a rotational option, and can play wide.
Forest have made signings up top in the form of Emmanuel Dennis and Taiwo Awoniyi. A striker is unlikely to be a priority for Steve Cooper. Leicester could do with competition for Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka, like Newcastle.
Leeds are in a similar position, too, despite the early-season form of Spain international Rodrigo. However, Wolves need a striker the most, having played without a recognised striker against Tottenham on Saturday – losing 1-0.
Is he worth £30million? Clubs are beginning to pay over the odds as time ticks on the summer window. Just look at Chelsea paying a huge £60million for Everton’s Anthony Gordon. It will be an intriguing week for Pedro.
