TeamTalk claim Leeds and Wolves are battling Burnley and numerous Championship clubs to sign AFC Wimbledon talent Jack Rudoni. The midfielder has seven goals in League One during the 2021-22 season.

Rudoni, 20, has been a regular for Wimbledon over the last few seasons, already boasting a huge 91 appearances to his name with the League One side. This season, though, has form has improved enormously.

Clocking up 26 League One appearances this term, he has had a hand in 10 goals – scoring seven and creating three more. He is naturally a central midfielder, but can play on either flank or even as a number 10.

The report claims Leeds, Wolves and Burnley have been scouting the player – who ex-Wimbledon gaffer Glyn Hodges said has “tremendous energy”. Numerous Championship clubs are also keen, including Nottingham Forest.

Leeds and Wolves eye Rudoni: Talent needs Championship move

Rudoni is a top talent. But he has only starred at League One level. He is unproven at Championship level and the natural progression for the midfielder is a move to England’s second tier.

With the report claiming half of the Championship are looking at Rudoni, it is likely he will go there – before an inevitable move to the Premier League. A move to Leeds, Wolves or Burnley will stunt his growth.

It would see him play in Premier League 2 and then probably go on loan, eventually, to a Championship club anyway. He is better off going to a second-tier side, continuing his growth, and then earning a move.
