According to Libero, Leeds and West Ham are interested in signing Club América midfielder Pedro Aquino, with Brentford also keen.
What’s the story?
Well, the 34-cap Peru international is attracting interest from the Premier League as a result of his fine performances in Liga MX.
Aquino – who Club América paid €4m (£3.4m) to sign – has a contract with the Mexican giants until June 2024.
As a result, Libero state that Leeds, West Ham and Brentford will have to negotiate with Club América, which presumably won’t be easy seeing as he’s a key man.
So far this season, the 26-year-old has made 14 appearances in Liga MX, helping Club América sit top of Mexico’s top-flight by six points.
Interestingly, a detailed scouting report from By Far The Greatest Team opted to compare Aquino to ex-West Ham man Javier Mascherano.
Leeds need Pedro Aquino more than West Ham

In our view, Leeds have a far greater need for Aquino than West Ham.
Marcelo Bielsa is currently down to the bare bones in midfield after Kalvin Phillips suffered a serious hamstring injury.
Only Mateusz Klich and Adam Forshaw, along with Jamie Shackleton, are currently available for selection in the midfield department.

In West Ham’s case, David Moyes has two of the best central midfield options in the Premier League in Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
Crucially, the pair are extremely fit, and are rarely absent through injury.
Hopefully, Bielsa can use his lack of midfield options to convince Aquino to choose Leeds over West Ham, as he has a far better chance of regular first-team action in Yorkshire.
