According to Carrusel Deportivo (via Cadenaser), Valencia’s Geoffrey Kondogbia is set to have a medical at Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
The two Spanish clubs have agreed a fee, which the aforementioned report believes to be in the region of €15 million (£13.5 million) – €20 million (£18 million).
Diego Simeone’s side – who compete in the Champions League – are in need of a new midfield powerhouse after losing Thomas Partey to Arsenal on deadline day, and they look to have found their man.
This news might come as a blow to Tottenham and Leeds, who were both linked with the 27-year-old during the window.
French outlet Foot Mercato revealed that Spurs and Jose Mourinho’s old side Manchester United were interested in Kondogbia.

Elsewhere, La Liga journalist Hector Gomez (via TEAMtalk) revealed that Leeds were keen on the Central Africa Republic international – the same source also said Atletico Madrid were interested, which looks to be the case.
Kondogbia has made five appearances in La Liga so far this season.
Impressively, WhoScored shows that he averages 3.2 tackles per game, while he also records 1.6 interceptions and 1.6 clearances per game.

However, the Valencia star is not just a midfield destroyer.
Kondogbia appears to be good dribbler of the ball too. He averages 2.2 dribbles per game in La Liga, while he is also fouled twice per game in Spain’s top-flight.
