Leeds United and Everton must pay over £7 million to sign Dinamo Zagreb star Amer Gojak, with Bosnian publication SportSport claiming that Fiorentina have raised the stakes.

Despite hailing from Bosnia rather than next-door neighbours Croatia, this twinkle-toed little 23-year-old continues to be likened to Luka Modric rather than, say, Dragons legend Miralem Pjanic.

With his impressive footwork and defence-splitting tendencies, it doesn’t take a genius to work out why Gojak has been labelled by some as the second coming of Real Madrid’s Ballon D’Or-winning number ten (Ruhr24).

And reports from Eastern Europe suggest that that Zagreb-based playmaker could be about to follow in Modric’s footsteps by swapping Dinamo for a club in the Premier League.

Gojak is the latest in a long line of talented attacking midfielders linked with a move to Everton while, according to SportSport, Marcelo Bielsa’s newly-promoted Leeds are hoping to lure him to Elland Road – potentially as a long-term replacement for the 35-year-old Spanish sensation Pablo Hernandez.

But any hope Everton and Leeds might have had of snaring Gojak on the cheap have gone up in smoke – thanks to Fiorentina.

La Viola have struggled for a cutting edge all season despite the presence of Franck Ribery and Federico Chiesa out wide, scoring just 43 goals in 34 Serie A games.

As a result, Fiorentina have made an initial offer of £7 million, exceeding the £5 million bid put on the table by Besiktas.

Gojak produced four goals and five assists for Dinamo Zagreb in 2019/20 and has already found the net four times in ten international outings.
