TeamTalk claim Leeds and Everton are among a list of Premier League clubs ready to offer Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi a shot of redemption this summer. Wolves, Southampton and Brighton are also interested.
Batshuayi, 28, is currently impressing in his fifth loan spell away from Chelsea – at Turkish side Besiktas, where he has scored 14 goals in 28 SuperLig outings. He has also played for Valencia, Dortmund and Palace.
The latter of which, he went on loan to twice. In Chelsea colours, Batshuayi has scored 25 goals in 77 games – but the £90,000-a-week (Spotrac) striker is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract. Chelsea want a sale.
Indeed, they are willing to take a big loss on the £33million (Guardian) fee spent to sign him from Marseille in 2016. Leeds, Everton, Southampton, Wolves and Brighton are keen – as are Besiktas, who want him permanently.
Which club is best for Batshuayi, ahead of summer window?
Everton could sell Dom Calvert-Lewin. He needs replacing. Southampton, similarly, might not keep Chelsea-owned Armando Broja. Wolves have Raul Jimenez, Leeds have Patrick Bamford and Brighton have Neal Maupay.
Besiktas will want to keep him given his league form, but will not boast the financial power of the Premier League quintet. Everton and Southampton need a striker the most, but the other three will want competition up top.
A chance to play under Chelsea legend Lampard will be tempting if he is given assurances that he will be first choice. He will also have seen Broja’s form at Southampton and that could prove tempting.
