Tottenham Hotspur have beaten off competition from Leeds United and Celtic to land Alfie Devine, according to the London Evening Standard.

With Wigan Athletic’s financial situation look perilous, both Leeds and Celtic had looked to take advantage by signing their top talent.

However, it is Tottenham who have reportedly won the race for Devine.

The 15-year-old midfielder, who is tipped to be one of Wigan’s brightest prospects, has now undergone a medical at Spurs, with his transfer set to be formally confirmed this week.

The Standard suggest that Tottenham beat off competition from numerous clubs to land the youngster, with Leeds and Celtic among the clubs keen on him.

Missing out on the youngster could be a disappointment for both Leeds and Celtic if he does fulfil his potential at Tottenham.

Jamie Carragher talked up the prospect’s talents earlier this week, and it is thought that he could have an extremely bright future with Jose Mourinho’s side.
