Leeds United are reportedly targeting a January deal for Alaves winger Ibai Gomez.

According to Goal, Leeds United are confident of a January deal for Alaves winger Ibai Gomez as they attempt to reunite him with manager Marcelo Bielsa.
With a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town on Wednesday night, Leeds returned to the top of the Championship table, and remain in the hunt for promotion under Bielsa.
January additions will be key for Bielsa though, and with Ezgjan Alioski shifting back to play at left back in Barry Douglas’s absence on Wednesday, another winger may well be on the Argentinian’s radar.
Goal report that Leeds made bids for Alaves winger Ibai Gomez in the summer, but their offers were rejected, and they will now return with a new move in January.
It’s claimed that Leeds are now confident of striking a deal for Gomez in January, in a move which would see him work under Bielsa once again.
Gomez, 28, played for Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao, and hit seven goals in 75 games for ‘El Loco’ before leaving the Basque side in 2016 for a move to join newly-promoted Alaves.

With 14 goals in his first two seasons, as well as three this term and nine assists in his time with the club, Gomez has thrived with Alaves, but his contract ends next summer – and Leeds are pushing for a bargain January deal.
Adding another Spaniard in the final third alongside Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez could bring more creativity to the Leeds side, and Gomez is known as a set-piece marvel and being dangerous from long-range, with Bielsa seemingly keen to reunite with the winger as Leeds’ first 2019 signing.
