Goal claim Leeds are ‘above all’ in the race to sign Strasbourg defender Gerzino Nyamsi – with Newcastle and West Ham also showing interest. The centre-back has enjoyed a stellar 2021-22 campaign in Ligue 1.
Nyamsi, 25, only joined Strasbourg last summer but has helped his side keep an impressive 15 clean sheets in 35 appearances. Strasbourg shocked many, finishing in sixth place – just three points outside of Europe qualification.
- Newcastle and Tottenham want Leeds star, but Elland Road is his best move
- Robin Koch an unsung hero at right-back in Leeds’ final games of 21/22
Reports this summer said that both West Ham and Newcastle had been looking at Nyamsi. The player is represented by Wasserman, who also look after Leeds stars Crysencio Summerville, Adam Forshaw and Sam Greenwood.
Now, though, Goal report Leeds and West Ham are interested – but it is the Whites who are ‘above all’ in the race for the 6ft 4in defender. Serie A giants Napoli are also looking at a move for Nyamsi.
Leeds ‘above all’ in Nyamsi race: West Ham also showing interest
The question mark is, do Leeds need a centre-back? The answer is, no. Leeds have Liam Cooper, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk. Charlie Cresswell, also represented by Wasserman, has a huge future at Leeds.
So, Newcastle or West Ham? Well, the Hammers have just sign Nayef Aguerd. But they could do with another, given Issa Diop could end up leaving and there are doubts over Angelo Ogbonna – now 34, and injury prone.
Newcastle are keen on a centre-back. Sven Botman talks are stalling and despite a move for Alessio Romagnoli, Lazio are likely to get him. Newcastle would be his best move, with the Toon keen on his signing.
