Lee Johnson is amongst the names that West Bromwich Albion are considering for their next manager.

According to a report from the Express and Star, Lee Johnson is amongst the names who would be open to an approach from West Brom during the summer as the Baggies consider their next permanent manager.

Despite a brilliant run of form under caretaker boss Darren Moore, it still looks nailed on that the Baggies will be playing Championship football next season with only two wins from their remaining two games able to give them the slightest chance of remaining in the top flight and pulling off what would have to be the greatest of escapes in the Premier League era.

The Express and Star reports that Moore is under consideration for the post, as are Johnson, Dean Smith of Brentford, and Leicester City assistant Michael Appleton.

The Express and Star adds that Johnson is amongst those who would welcome an approach from the Baggies in the coming months after a wonderful season with Bristol City.

The Robins may not make the play-offs this term, but they had been in and amongst the top six for the majority of the campaign and have only fallen away in the last few weeks. And that achievement is all the more remarkable when you consider that they reached the semi-final of the EFL Cup this season and found themselves in the Championship relegation zone 14 months ago.

Being open to considering the post, of course, does not mean that Johnson definitely wants to swap Ashton Gate for The Hawthorns, but it should arguably provide a boost to the West Brom hierarchy that one of the most promising manager talents in the country is seemingly interested in the job after a season of real turmoil for the Baggies.
