Lee Congerton could reportedly be about to become the latest backroom figure to leave Celtic.
Lee Congerton is looking set to leave his job as Celtic head of recruitment as he continues to attract interest from elsewhere, according to a report from talkSPORT.
Congerton has been at Parkhead for the past two seasons. TalkSPORT reports that he has been responsible for signing the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Olivier Ntcham and more recently, Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah.
It has been a tough period for Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers surprising many last week when he decided to quit as the Hoops boss and head back to the Premier League to join Leicester City.
And talkSPORT reports that Congerton could be about to follow him through the door despite being considered for the sporting director role with the Bhoys. The former Sunderland man reportedly wants to consider other opportunities, with Major League Soccer and Bundesliga sides showing interest.
While some of Celtic’s moves in the transfer market have been impressive and inspired, there has been plenty of animosity towards Congerton from the Hoops supporters in recent times.
The club had a fantastic chance to kick on and perhaps impose itself more on Europe during Rodgers’s tenure having already established their domestic dominance. But some of the blame for their failure to do that has headed Congerton’s way, so there may well be plenty of fans hoping that the reports prove to be correct.
