Charlton Athletic are reportedly keen on Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Charlton Athletic are interested in snapping up Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
O’Kane, 28, was a key signing for former Leeds boss Garry Monk on deadline day in August 2016, but it’s fair to say that he hasn’t won many fans at Elland Road.
The Irish international may have won promotion with Bournemouth and played in the Premier League with the Cherries, but he has struggled to play his best football at Elland Road.
O’Kane may have played 56 times for Leeds, but he has never really been able to string together a run of fine performances in midfield, with his workmanlike nature often the only positive feature.
Leeds fans have been begging for O’Kane to move on this summer, and the Yorkshire Evening Post now report that Charlton Athletic want to sign O’Kane after he was told he wouldn’t have a future at Elland Road under new boss Marcelo Bielsa.
O’Kane has been training with the Leeds youngsters, far away from the first team, and the Whites will certainly be hoping to move him on before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Now, it’s League One side Charlton Athletic keen to sign O’Kane, with Addicks boss Lee Bowyer – an ex-Leeds United midfielder – looking to strike a deal with his former club this week.
Leeds won’t stand in his way, but whether O’Kane will want a permanent move to the third tier remains to be seen, and other clubs are also thought to be interested in the Irishman too as an exit seemingly nears.
