Lazio are reportedly ramping up their interest in Adolfo Gaich.

Aston Villa have been celebrating landing Club Brugge striker Wesley in a big-money deal – but Everton may be left ruing their move.

Villa beat a number of clubs to sign Wesley, who hit 17 goals and 10 assists last season, and he should be a fine long-term replacement for Tammy Abraham.

However, those clubs who missed out on Wesley are now looking elsewhere, with Lazio desperate to sign him before missing out to Villa.

Gazzetta Dello Sport now claim that Lazio are pressing ahead with a move for San Lorenzo striker Adolfo Gaich instead, noting specifically that he’s wanted because Lazio missed out on Wesley.

Gaich and his agent are believed to be in Rome to discuss a potential move, and that may mean that Everton miss out on bringing him to Goodison Park.

Marca Claro reported earlier this month that Everton want Gaich, and would be willing to pay $15million (£12million) to sign the Argentinian this summer.

The 20-year-old target man has hit three goals in 15 games for San Lorenzo, and whilst he’s inexperienced, his three goals at the Under-20 World Cup this summer have sparked major interest.

With Wesley unavailable now, Lazio look to be moving for Gaich, and may be able to offer a first-team role immediately, meaning Everton could miss out – partly because of Aston Villa’s signing.
