Reports in Italy are suggesting that Lazio are now in pole position to sign Italian striker Fabio Borini from Sunderland this summer.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from Sunderland ever since they were relegated to the Championship with AC Milan and Lazio both linked with his signature.

But it is the side from Rome who are now in the lead for his signature, according to Corriere dello Sport.
They claim that the one-cap Italian international has been on the radar of Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare since his time in the Chelsea youth academy. Tare has had his eye on him for eight years, so his one season playing with city rivals Roma will not impact any potential interest in his signature.

Borini joined Sunderland, initially on loan, in 2013. After that deal ended he attempted to play first-team football with parent club Liverpool but struggled and joined the Black Cats permanently in 2015.
But last season he played just 26 times for the club and scored twice as they dropped out of the top-flight and is one of the big earners Sunderland are keen to shift this summer.
