Lazio are allegedly contemplating a move for the Newcastle United defender.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Corriere dell Sport, Lazio are considering a move for Newcastle full-back Javier Manquillo, as they look for a cheaper alternative to Chelsea star Davide Zappacosta.
The Spaniard joined the Magpies from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £4.5 million, according to the Mirror, but he has struggled to establish himself on Tyneside, making just 26 Premier League starts for the Toon.
Rafa Benitez might be tempted to sell the 24-year-old, in order to fund any potential incomings.
Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claims that Chelsea ace Zappacosta is still Lazio’s number one target, but they could move for the Newcastle full-back should they encounter problems in signing the 26-year-old.

Considering how much Manquillo has struggled during his time at St James’ Park, there would surely not be too many Newcastle fans who would be sad to see him go.
Lazio must act fast, however, with just two days remaining until the transfer window slams shut.
