Lazar Markovic has been offered an escape route from his Liverpool nightmare by Lokomotiv Moscow, according to the Mirror, having not played a single game for the Reds since May 2015.
The 24-year-old signed for Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £20 million, but has failed to establish himself on Merseyside, making just 11 Premier League starts for the Reds.
Markovic has spent loan spells away from Anfield at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull City, and Jürgen Klopp is determined to shift the Serbian on this month permanently.
The Mirror claim that Lokomotiv Moscow have approached Liverpool about the possibility of taking Markovic on loan for the rest of the season, with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer, but the Merseyside outfit will only consider the proposal if the Russians are prepared to pay a decent loan fee and are willing to subsidise his £35,00 per week wages.
Whether the Serb leaves on a permanent basis or just temporarily, however, it is hard to envisage a scenario where he has a future at Anfield under Jürgen Klopp.
