Brighton and Hove Albion are reportedly keen on Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson.
According to The MIrror, Brighton and Hove Albion have made a move for Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson – but Rams boss Frank Lampard has snubbed any deal.
Whilst striker Florin Andone is their big arrival so far, the Seagulls have already brought in one goalkeeper having signed Jason Steele from Sunderland last month.
Steele arrives as Tim Krul leaves, but manager Chris Hughton may not be done bringing in shot-stoppers yet, despite having Mat Ryan as his clear first-choice goalkeeper.
Now, The Mirror report that Brighton have made a move for Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson, but Rams boss Frank Lampard has rejected their enquiry.
Carson, 32, was a mainstay for Derby last season and has now racked up almost 150 appearances for the club since his 2015 move from Wigan Athletic.
The former England international has turned out for Leeds United, Liverpool, Charlton Athletic, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, and Brighton were seemingly keen to offer him a return to the top flight.
However, Lampard – who played alongside Carson for England – has allegedly snubbed the approach, as he wants to make Carson a key player and wants to send out a strong message about his future.
Yet, with Derby looking to raise funds and Carson in his 30’s, Brighton may yet feel that they can tempt the Rams and Lampard into a sale this summer as Hughton continues to assess his goalkeeping options.
