CalcioMercato report that Frank Lampard wants to raid German side Wolfsburg for highly-rated teenage talent Aster Vranckx in the summer. The Belgian has impressed in Germany, since his £5million move (Sun).
Belgium Under-21 international Vranckx broke into KV Mechelen’s starting line-up at just 17 and clocked up 47 senior appearances before joining Wolfsburg last summer. He has since played 18 times during 2021-22.
Compared to Axel Witsel by the Bundesliga’s official website, Vranckx has earned rave reviews in the green of Wolfsburg as a box-to-box midfielder. He boasts plenty of physicality, and can score the odd goal, too.
Indeed, in 14 Bundesliga outings, he has netted twice and had a hand in nine goals during 47 Mechelen games. CalcioMercato report that Everton are keen and Lampard is keen to lure him to Goodison Park this summer.
Everton eye Vranckx: New approach at Goodison Park, after Brands?
Everton spent a whole lot of cash on players that have simply not performed. But after the exit of Marcel Brands, the Toffees are seemingly trying to build for the future – in Nathan Patterson and Vitalii Mykolenko.
Vranckx would be another example of Everton adding talented young players to their side, that have already had plenty of first-team exposure. At 19, the midfielder has already played 65 senior matches at club level.
He is likely to cost more than the £5million Wolfsburg paid to get him – but a fee below £15million could be enough. TransferMarkt say he is represented by the same agency that looks after ex-Everton star Henry Onyekuru.
