Derby County are pushing to sign Chelsea’s Jay Dasilva.
According to The Mirror, Derby County boss Frank Lampard is hoping to call in a favour from former club Chelsea with a deal for left back Jay Dasilva.
Lampard has been appointed as the new Derby boss following Gary Rowett’s move to Stoke City, and he will be looking to make moves in the transfer market.
Derby may have to balance the books this summer, and Lampard may be able to receive some help from former club Chelsea to save the Rams from splashing cash on signings.
The Mirror claim that Lampard wants to snap up Chelsea left back Jay Dasilva, presumably on loan given that the Blues handed him a four-year deal last summer.
Dasilva, 20, is allegedly wanted by two Premier League clubs, but Lampard watched him in action alongside assistant Jody Morris against Scotland in the Toulon Tournament.
The left back joined Chelsea from hometown club Luton in 2012, and spent 18 months on loan with Charlton Athletic, where he impressed enough to win their Fans Player of the Year award for the past season.
An athletic, attacking full back with a bright future ahead of him, Dasilva could see Derby as the next stage in his progression, whilst Chelsea may well trust Lampard to develop him above other interested managers.
Lampard does have Marcus Olsson, Craig Forsyth, Max Lowe and Ikechi Anya available at left back, but with experienced high-earners like Olsson, Anya and Forsyth primed for the exit, Dasilva could be a key target this summer.
