Martin O’Neill favourite Murphy appears to have no future under Sabri Lamouchi at Nottingham Forest.

Martin O’Neill’s departure from Nottingham Forest appears to have ended Daryl Murphy’s career at the City Ground with the Irish Sun claiming that the veteran striker has been told to leave before the end of the transfer window.
Murphy has never managed to win over Forest supporters since he arrived from Newcastle United two years ago, Sky claiming that he cost £2 million.
But a player who won the Championship’s Golden Boot at Ipswich Town in 2015 looked set for a new lease of life when O’Neill arrived in January. After all, O’Neill had managed to get the best out of him for the Republic of Ireland so why couldn’t he do the same job at Forest?
Just five months later, however, the 67-year-old is gone, sacked after failing to convince the players or the fans. And one of Sabri Lamouchi’s first acts as O’Neill’s replacement appears to have been to tell Murphy that he is not part of his plans.

The former Rennes boss wants to bring in a more pacey, technical style of football and a 6ft 3ins target man like Murphy really doesn’t seem to fit in.
The 36-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract and it remains to be seen who, if anyone, will take a chance on him.
