The Levante midfielder Jose Campana has expressed a desire to leave the club amid interest from Leeds United and others, according to Super Deporte.

The Spanish website claims Leeds have placed Campana on their central midfield wish-list, but adds that he is ‘not their only candidate’.

And there are said to be at least two Premier League sides willing to bid for the former Crystal Palace player, after both Sevilla and Villarreal signed alternatives.

As of yet, though, Levante have not received a single proposal in the summer transfer window and are ‘firm in their position’ of not wanting to sell, according to Super Deporte.

But it is claimed Campana has a verbal agreement with the Valencian club’s president Quico Catalan that he can leave for €30 million (around £27.6m) – half his current buyout clause – and has communicated his desire to do so to both his manager Paco Lopez and teammates.

Campana is said to be the highest-earning player in Levante history, earning €3.2m (around £2.95m) a year.

Leeds have yet to add to their central midfield options, which currently comprise Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich, Adam Forshaw and Jamie Shackleton, this summer.

But the indication is that they ‘would not reach the minimum price for which Catalan would sit to negotiate’, according to Super Deporte.

Leeds have already signed the Spain striker Rodrigo from Levante’s city rivals, Valencia, since their promotion back to the Premier League, and are close to a deal for his international teammate Diego Llorente, the Real Sociedad centre-back.
