Real Sociedad and Valencia are both keen on West Ham’s Hernandez.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato have claimed that La Liga duo Real Sociedad and Valencia are interested in signing West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez in the January transfer window.
Hernandez, 29, starred for West Ham on Saturday afternoon, scoring twice for Manuel Pellegrini’s side as the Hammers surprised many with an excellent 3-0 win away at Newcastle United.
Just hours before Saturday’s clash, the 106-time Mexico international had been quoted by Spanish newspaper Marca as stating that he would consider leaving West Ham in the upcoming window, though he did say he was happy at West Ham.
“I don’t know, even this winter,” Hernandez said. “I want to play, to participate as much as possible and I have the ability to win a place. I am not closing the door on moving this winter. There is an exit door and another in the summer.
“I am happy here but I want to play more.”
Now, reports suggest that he has potential suitors in Spain’s top division, in the form of big clubs in Valencia and Real Sociedad.
Hernandez has a contract at West Ham until the summer of 2020, which is said to be worth an enormous £140,000 a week (Spotrac). He has failed to live up to such a pay cheque, scoring just 12 goals in 44 games.
Of those 44, though, 20 have been from the bench and it has stunted the ex-Manchester United striker’s chances of achieving momentum and goalscoring form. If a bid comes in, he could be wiped from the wage bill.
