Arsenal have been linked with a mega-money move for Kylian Mbappe.

The Independent has reported that Kylian Mbappe is open to the prospect of joining Arsenal this summer.

The 18-year-old striker is one of Europe’s hottest young properties after scoring 24 goals for Monaco last season – including 15 which helped the club to Ligue 1 glory.

Real Madrid are said to be leading the hunt but the Gunners have touted as a potential destination and The Independent claimed that manager Arsene Wenger has spoken to the £118m-rated hitman about his future over the telephone.

The report goes on to suggest that the young Frenchman is open to an Arsenal move, but added that he would view a stint with the North Londoners as a stepping stone toward a switch to Barcelona or Real Madrid.

It seems unlikely that he will go to Arsenal, especially with a club like Madrid in the picture, but speculation over a switch to the Emirates is refusing to die down.

It would help Wenger’s efforts to lure Mbappe to London if he could keep Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the club.

Sanchez, in particular, was exceptional for Arsenal last season and their success next season surely hinges on whether he and the German playmaker remain at the club, though both are out of contract next summer.
