Kyle Lafferty didn’t start a Scottish Premiership game for Rangers in 2019; is his time at Ibrox coming to an end?

Kyle Lafferty of Rangers reacts during the Ladbrookes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on February 16, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Kyle Lafferty could be on his way out of Rangers this summer with Apollon Limassol expressing an interest in the 31-year-old striker, according to The Scotsman.

Lafferty returned for a second spell at Ibrox last summer, joining from Hearts for a fee of £500,000 (Evening Express). But he managed just seven goals in 35 games in all competitions while failing to start a single Scottish Premiership game since the arrival of Jermain Defoe in January.

And with Rangers expected to bring in Greg Stewart after his release by Birmingham City, Lafferty appears to be on borrowed time at Ibrox.

The Scotsman claims that the Northern Ireland international could be on his way to Cyprus and you could hardly blame Lafferty for being keen on the idea of soaking up the sun in the autumn years of his career.

A nomadic striker who has had spells in Italy, Switzerland and Turkey, a move to Apollon would allow Lafferty to compete for a place in the Europa League group-stage after the club’s third place finish in the Cypriot top flight last season.

Apollon are also keen to sign Hearts midfielder Arnaud Djoum.
